Floppy Petals 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

Oh, WOW!!

All Floral Cross  block designs can be modified over and over, to create a very wide variety of  blocks for use in quilt designs.  In most of my quilt designs using the result of twisting and turning a basic Floral Cross it is hard to find a basic  Floral Cross.

The centre block of the first design is nearly a basic cross, but with  a little bit of extra.

The two designs have a mixture of borders using the same flower as all the other blocks, but modified to do a different job.

Very dainty and feminine!

Very busy, but with a little room for quilting to share the limelight, and not all of them have been used yet. I need to spend a little bit of time concentrating on the quilting designs.

I liked playing with these blocks in the straight setting, so decided to try setting them on point.

I love the second design!

Will have to start adding quilting motifs to both the project files in the very near future.

Textile Inspiration Black Out 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

I love playing with these designs in much more traditional floral colours, but I rather like them blacked out too!

I wouldn’t want them in my bedroom, but if they were added to twelve inch tiles and I had a really large room with little furniture they would look great on the floor!

I think I like the border on the first one, and the centre of the second one best.

White On Colour 12, 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

Wonder how long it would take me to find the perfect background fabric … and then the perfect fabric for the applique. Or perhaps the perfect fabric for the background, and the perfect thread for the machine embroidery?

Or perhaps some applique for the big piece applique blocks, and the fiddly bits embroidered! Then another thread for the quilting.

In all three of these designs I love the open spaces around the white bits … more white would make the designs too busy.
